Serves 4-6.

Ropa Vieja is a traditional dish from Cuba that literally translates to "old clothes." The dish is made with shredded beef that is slow-cooked with garlic, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes, and a blend of Latin American spices until it is tender and flavorful. When you make our easy version, all you have to do is open a bottle of Mesa de Vida's Latin Inspired Starter Sauce to get all of the flavor, without all the work!

Today, ropa vieja is a popular dish in Latin American cuisine and is often served with rice and beans, plantains, or tortillas. We also love it over mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1-½ lb beef flank steak
  • 1 bottle Mesa de Vida Latin Inspired Cooking Sauce
  • 2 cups vegetables of your choice (sliced onion, sliced bell peppers, and green olives are traditional)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt to taste/health needs

Directions

  1. Sear meat to golden brown, if desired. Add ingredients to the slow cooker, stir to combine
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. Shred and serve!
