Ingredients
-
2 tsp healthy oil/fat of your choice (optional)
-
1 lb ground beef, pork, plant-based ground meat alternative, or 2 cups of beans
-
2 cups cabbage, cut into 1" dice
-
1 bottle Mesa de Vida's globally inspired cooking sauce - any flavor
-
1/4 cup water
-
28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
-
salt to taste
-
Hot cooked rice or pasta to serve, we like to add a dab of butter or ghee to ours for more flavor. You can also substitute mashed potatoes or cauliflower mash.
Directions
-
Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. When hot, add the oil/fat (if using) and swirl to coat. Add the protein to the pan, crumbling and stirring often, until about 80% browned.
-
Add the cabbage, cover and cook about 5 minutes until lightly wilted.
-
Add the Mesa de Vida cooking sauce, 1/4 cup water (shake it out in the bottle to get all of the goodness out), canned tomatoes and salt to taste.
-
Bring to a simmer, the lower the heat to low and cover. Simmer for 25-30 minutes until the cabbage is soft and tender.
-
Serve spooned over hot cooked rice or pasta, mashed potatoes or cauliflower mash.

Enjoy!
