Ingredients

2 tsp flour (regular or gluten free brown rice flour)

2 Tb oil of your choice

1 lb your choice of combination of protein (diced boneless skinless chicken breasts or thighs, sliced smoked sausage, peeled and deveined shrimp, cooked crab meat)

1 bottle Mesa de Vida Creole Inspired Cooking Sauce

2 cups diced vegetables of your choice (we suggest green bell pepper, green onion and chopped okra - frozen works great)

1 cup chicken broth

Salt and hot sauce to taste
Directions

In a soup pot over medium heat, whisk together the flour and oil. Cook until the color of the roux turns dark copper brown, similar to the color of a penny

Immediately add the remaining ingredients and stir to combine

Bring to a simmer, then lower the heat to low
-
Cook, stirring occasionally, for 25-30 minutes until the meat is cooked through and the vegetables are tender
- Serve with hot cooked white rice
