Serve this saucy, succulent, healthy pork in tacos, burritos, on burrito bowls, on salads, and more! You won't believe how incredibly flavorful this recipe is for such little work.

Makes 4-6 servings.

Carnitas is a Mexican dish made from slow-cooked pork that is seasoned with spices and herbs, then shredded or chopped. The meat is cooked until juicy and tender and can be used in a variety of dishes such as tacos, burritos, or served with rice and beans.

We hope you love our easy version using our Latin Inspired Starter Sauce - simply pour our incredible chef-crafted blend of fruits, vegetables, Latin herbs and spices over pork and let your slow cooker do the rest!

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1-½ lb boneless pork shoulder or butt, cut in 2” cubes (for a leaner version use pork tenderloin)
  • 1 bottle Mesa de Vida Latin Inspired Cooking Sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Salt to taste/health needs
  • Optional: juice from one freshly squeezed orange

Directions

  1. Sear meat to golden brown, if desired. Add ingredients to the slow cooker, stir to combine
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. (If you prefer to cook this recipe in the oven transfer the ingredients to an oven-proof dish, cover tightly and cook in a 375 degree preheated oven for 45 minutes until tender.)
  3. Serve and enjoy!

Tip:

If you want to enjoy crispy bits and drive the flavor up even more, after cooking spread the meat out on a shallow baking sheet. Cook under the broiler until golden brown and crispy. Yum!
