Saucy Joes Recipe

Our Saucy Joes recipe is a healthier take on classic sloppy joes, and you can use any flavor of our cooking sauces to take your sandwich on a culinary adventure! 

Makes 4 servings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground meat (turkey, chicken, sausage, beef, or plant-based alternative)
  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 1 bottle Mesa de Vida Globally Inspired Cooking Sauce
  • Salt to taste
  • Warm sandwich rolls, pita bread or flatbread; or serve over white rice or couscous
  • Optional toppings of your choice for serving: crumbled feta cheese (great with our Moroccan or Mediterranean inspired flavor), shredded Jack or cheddar cheese (great with our Latin inspired flavor) diced cucumber, onion and tomato salad, pickled jalapeno slices, fresh parsley

Directions

  1. Add ground meat to a skillet over medium-high heat, cook until golden brown and fully cooked
  2. Add spinach, Mesa de Vida Cooking Sauce and salt to taste. Bring to a simmer, then lower the heat to low
  3. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes
  4. Serve on warm bread of your choice, or over a bed of hot cooked rice or couscous. Top with toppings and enjoy
