*This recipe as written is Whole30 and Paleo-friendly! Skip the pinch of sugar, and use a compliant sausage.

*This recipe is inspired by a Southern classic, Brunswick Stew. If you’d like to transform this recipe into Brunswick stew just add: 1 cup diced boneless, skinless chicken, cooked lima beans, cooked corn, 2 more cups of broth, and don’t skip the pinch of sugar (it is optional but traditional to add a bit of barbecue sauce, also). Simmer for one hour, or cook on low all day.
