I’m the first to admit, nothing replaces a homemade pot of authentic Mexican Pozole (especially if it’s made by my mother-in-law, Margarita) 😉 but this is a close second, and it’s so simple!

It’s one of my husband’s favorite meals of all time, and I hope you’ll love it too!

Slow Cooker Pozole Recipe

Servings 4 to 6 servings


  • 1 1/2 lb pork country style ribs or use any pork roast on the bone that you like. You could use pork tenderloin (not quite as flavorful, but it will work), but only cook for 4-6 hours as it will dry out much faster.
  • 1 jar Mesa de Vida Smoky Latin Cooking & Seasoning Sauce
  • 3 fresh or dried bay leaves
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1 can hominy (About 3-4 cups) rinsed and drained
  • 4 cups high quality broth of your choice
  • Salt and hot sauce to taste
  • For serving: lime wedges, thinly sliced cabbage, additional dried oregano if you like, fresh cilantro, tortilla chips or tortillas


  • Place everything into the slow cooker, stir to combine. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Shred the pork and mix into the soup. Remove any bones before serving. Serve with additional toppings of your choice and enjoy!
