This quick and easy recipe is packed with amazing flavor thanks to Mesa de Vida Creole cooking sauce! Minimal ingredients, minimal effort, yet maximum gourmet flavor. This Creole shrimp recipe over a bed of creamy mashed cauliflower is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner but also makes an impressive seafood dinner party recipe to serve to your friends.

This recipe has Whole30 and Paleo friendly, and dairy-free variations, and is naturally gluten free and low carbohydrates, making it perfect for a keto diet as well.


Creole Shrimp and Creamy Cauliflower Mash

Servings 4 servings


To make the creamy cauliflower mash:

  • 4 cups cauliflower florets
  • 2 Tb ghee or butter (not Whole30) if you like
  • 2 Tb cream (not Whole30), or dairy free cream alternative
  • salt to taste

To make the Creole shrimp:

  • 1 lb peeled, cleaned shrimp
  • 1/2 jar Mesa de Vida Creole cooking & seasoning sauce
  • 1/4 lb smoked sausage thinly sliced, optional
  • salt and hot sauce to taste


To make the cauliflower mash:

  • Steam, boil, or pressure cook cauliflower until extremely well cooked. Drain well, if necessary. Add ghee/butter, cream/dairy alternative, and salt to the cauliflower. Blend with an immersion blender, or in a blender, until creamy and smooth.

To make the Creole shrimp:

  • Add shrimp, Mesa de Vida Creole sauce, sausage, and salt/hot sauce, if using, to a sauce pan. Turn the burner on to medium heat and bring to a simmer. Cook until the shrimp are just cooked through.
  • Serve the saucy shrimp on a bed of the creamy cauliflower mash, and enjoy!
