Naturally gluten-free, you can also make this recipe Whole30-friendly by skipping the maple syrup and yogurt, and serve it up over cauliflower rice, or eat it straight up as a stew.

Braised Butternut Squash and Ground Turkey Skillet
- 1 lb ground turkey any ground meat works for this recipe, or for a meat-free version swap in plant-based ground meat alternatives, or 2 cups of cooked chickpeas.
- 3 cups cubed butternut squash 1" cubes
- 1 jar Mesa de Vida North African flavor Recipe Starter Sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped dried apricots or dates
- 1 Tb pure maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 cup water or broth
- Salt to taste/health needs Mesa de Vida products are extremely low in sodium so you can salt to your own needs and tastes.
- hot cooked rice, or cauliflower rice, or pasta, or couscous, or beans
- yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, and fresh pomegranate arils for topping
- Brown the ground meat in a skillet (add healthy oil/fat of your choice if necessary).
- Stir in the butternut squash, Mesa de Vida North African flavor recipe starter sauce, water, dried fruit, maple syrup, and salt. Bring to a simmer, lower the heat and cover. Cook for 20-30 minutes, until the butternut squash is tender.
- Serve with the side of your choice, top with a dollop of yogurt, pomegranate arils and feta cheese. Enjoy!
